World Wildlife Day: How You Can Help Save The Endangered?

Did you know that almost 1 million animal and plant species face extinction right now? And, at the rate we are going, we are most likely to lose an alarming rate of species within the next decade.

According to reports by the UN, over 40% of amphibians and more than half of all marine life are on the verge of extinction.

And, while the extinction rates are alarming and accelerating, we still believe that small actions can bring a huge impact. World Wildlife Day serves as a reminder for us to follow a lifestyle that’s simply gentle to the planet and the wildlife.

With that in mind, here are some easy ways or changes you can adapt to make life matter and make a difference.

What's The Current State?

The plight of endangered species is underscored by sobering statistics, revealing the magnitude of the biodiversity crisis. As per the latest assessment by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), thousands of species teeter on the brink of extinction. Here are some figures that shed light on the severity of the situation:

To start with, approximately 26,000 species are listed as threatened on IUCN's red list, with 25% being mammals. Also, around 14% of bird species are classified as threatened, and approximately 41% of amphibian species face an alarming crisis.

What Can You Do?

While doing something to save species from extinction might seem like an intimidating task, you don't have to go the extra mile to make a difference.

We believe that even the smallest of changes can bring a huge impact and might allow you to save someone's home. So, here are some easy ways on how to be part of the movement and help save wildlife:

1. Start by Staying Informed about your Choices

Stay informed about the current state of endangered species, conservation issues, and sustainable practices. Knowledge is the first step toward making informed choices. Also, use your voice to advocate for policies that support wildlife conservation. Write to your representatives, share information on social media, and raise awareness in your community.

2. Ditch the Single-Use Plastic

It's true that single-use plastics are convenient. But, these products, like plastic straws and cups, end up either in soil, where they leave behind a trail of microplastics to be ingested by some animals or end up in our oceans, where they choke marine life. So, instead of using plastic single-use products, you can switch to plant-based products, like those available at EcoSoul.

Our products are made straight out of plants and are certified compostable. Available with a back-to-nature promise, these products are made from source materials like palm leaves, bamboo, sugarcane bagasse, and PLA (corn starch).

3. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Conscious consumerism and embracing a circular economy can be a great way to help all those animals in the wild. Besides using and discarding products, make sure to support businesses that are all about recycling and embracing a circular economy.

4. Camp in a Planet-Safe

Way Let's admit it: camping and trekking are some of the highlights of backpacking. And, while you are at it, make sure not to pollute around. Also, stray away from using single-use plastics, as they pose a severe threat of choking on animals.

5. Donate to a Cause

By donating, we don't mean putting in a fortune. However, several brands do allow you to invest in a cause during checkout. We have collaborated with +Purpose, allowing you to choose a cause during checkout, and we'll make sure to invest in it for you for FREE.

And, That's A Wrap

We at EcoSoul love to believe that Earth isn't only ours. And, while our future generation does have a part in it, it also equally belongs to other species.

By consuming responsibly and being mindful of your choices, you can cause a huge impact that can help you save some precious lives.
